BMJ Open published an article in 2013 that explores treating patients who live with chronic conditions: in this case, focusing on T1D in particular.

Related to this article is one I came across in the BJGP, June 1999: Shared decision-making in primary care: the neglected second half of the consultation. Of interest is the comparison made between US and UK PCPs and the suggestion that SDM stems from “doctors consulting defensively”.
